Tenor, conductor, producer and director of the Froville Festival, Emiliano González Toro has sung the great masterpieces of the 17th and 18th centuries with the greatest ensembles and the greatest conductors.
To share his immense experience in this Italian Seicento, Emiliano González Toro created the ensemble I Gemelli with Mathilde Etienne. In 2019, I Gemelli made a stunning debut at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, with Emiliano singing the title role. Shortly afterwards, the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse hosted this performance for two nights, followed by an equally acclaimed version at the Arsenal in Metz.
In 2021, he directs and sings the title role in Ritorno d’Ulisse in patria before taking on L’Incoronazione di Poppea in May 2023, which he conducts at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, at the Victoria Hall in Geneva and at the Arsenal in Metz.
September 2023 will see the premiere of the ensemble’s new work i Gemelli, co-directed by Emiliano González Toro and Mathilde Etienne, awarded a gold tuning fork, a choc de Classica and a Diamond by Opera Magazine.
The 2023-2024 season will open with a major tour of Patria’s Ritorno d’Ulisse, which will visit the major European stages. Emiliano will conduct and sing Monteverdi’s Vespers in Geneva, as a preamble to the recording for the Gemelli Factory label (to be released in 2025). Among other projects and collaborations, he will sing the role of Dancaire under the direction of René Jacobs, he will be Aeneas in Gaupner’s Dido Queen of Cartage with Cetra in Basel and Amsterdam conducted by Andrea Marcon, he will also take part in a tour and recording of Bach’s Mass in B with the Pygmalion Ensemble conducted by Raphael Pichon.
The 23/24 season will end with the release of a new album of Latin/lyrical fusion: La misa criolla by Ariel Ramirez with “The Amazing Keystone big band” and several prestigious guests.
